We have cleared approx 1/3 acre so far. New babies can’t go in yet due to hot weather but the ground was cleared last week by a group of young volunteers and the black membrane is now laid. It wasn’t possibly to clear a whole acre so older lavender plants are still there with lavender but amid a somewhat grassy forest on the last 4 rows.
Due to the teenagers and young adult plants unless enough people come to pick their own, there will be more plants than can practically be harvested and distilled but that is because of this crossover year with younger and older plants. It remains difficult to get volunteers – even when leaflets distributed locally. Should be fab though next weekend – lavender, bees and butterflies on fine form:
